ERRIN New Members 2009: Round-up
ERRIN is a constantly growing network multiplying its members EU projects’ partnership opportunities and encouraging knowledge transfer across Europe by constantly building new contacts. Since January 2009, the network has welcomed 3 regional authorities from new EU member states, Pannon Novum - West Pannon Regional Innovation Agency, the North Hungarian Regional Innovation Agency, Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, its first Irish member region, South West Regional Authority Ireland, CReoDK representing the capital region of Denmark, the University of Copenhagen and the Technical University of Denmark, Twente Region and Arnhem Nijmegen City Region from the Netherlands and Saxony from Germany.
ERRIN groups over 70 members from 16 EU member states.

Pannon Novum - West Pannon Regional Innovation Agency (RIA)
RIA is the agency of West Pannonia region which aims at becoming the green region of Hungary thanks to innovation, as well as the establishment of an economy based on local and international cooperation networks and the wide spreading of the application of information technologies. RIA’s task is to harmonize innovation processes, to encourage knowledge transfer, to provide and integrate innovation services and to establish and strengthen technological innovation networks.
North Hungarian Regional Innovation Agency (NORRIA)
NORRIA is a leading service provider in the field of innovation management and knowledge intensive services, supporting the North Hungarian region on the way towards sustainable development and in meeting the objectives of the Lisbon Strategy set by the European Union. NORRIA aims at enabling regional businesses to become more innovative, as well as improving the R&D&I potential of the region and contributing to regional growth.
Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship
The regional authority of Kujawsko-Pomorskie is an expansive and open region with real perspective of development in friendly and attractive environment, carrying on broad and active international policy cooperating with regions from many different countries. Kujawsko-Pomorskie region wants to explore other regions’ good practices in the scope ofinnovations’ implementation and financing, and hopes that the new knowledge and experience will provoke further development of the region in the field of social and business matters.
South West Regional Authority Ireland
The South West Regional Authority is a statutory public body with responsibility for strategic planning of the region, which has a highly developed, modern, high-technology-based economy. The South West Regional Authority Ireland activities aim to achieve sustainable growth and development in the region. The region is the headquarters for a wide range of multi-national companies specialising in areas such as Electronics, Pharmaceuticals and Food production.
CreoDK
CreoDK is the EU research office of the Technical University of Denmark, the University of Copenhagen and the Capital Region of Denmark. CreoDK seeks influence on the framework programmes in specific areas. Emphasis in relation to EU funding opportunities is especially on health/medical, food and energy/environment in order to get the three partners of the organisation more involved in the European Research Area and especially the framework programme for research and technological development.
Twente is a non-administrative region in the eastern Netherlands, part of the province of Overijssel. The three large cities of Twente are Enschede, Hengelo and Almelo. Its innovation strategy focuses on three main themes: Food, Health and Technology. For each of these themes, the following cluster organisations have been established: Food Valley, Health Valley and the Innovation Platform Twente. The strategy of the Innovation Platform Twente (www.twentse-innovatieroute.nl) is based on the key knowledge areas of the University of Twente in Enschede. The cluster for Materials and High Tech Systems is the central cluster in this strategy. This cluster combines nanotechnology, mechatronics and the industrial textiles industry. Another important cluster is ICT and ICT Services (www.telin.nl and www.ctit.utwente.nl). Information on the science park of the university can be found at www.kennispark.nl.
Arnhem Nijmegen City Region
Reasearch, knowledge exchange and innovation are important to the economy of the Arnhem Nijmegen City Region. The region has a strong expertise in medical and technical knowledge. Arnhem Nijmegen City Region has also various industrial estates with a large variety of companies that work, together or on their own, on the development of new technologies and products such as Mercator Science Park, Novio Tech Campus, Arnhems Buiten, Koningspleijn.
Saxony
The Free State of Saxony is the tenth-largest in area and sixth-largest in population among Germany's sixteen states. Saxony is the fastest growing region in Germany. This, amongst other things, is due to the establishment of a chip producing economy around Dresden. As a result, the region was given the nickname "Silicon Saxony" and is a leading player in environmental technology and the renewable energy sector, in Life Sciences, mechanical and automotive engineering. Technology transfer from universities and R&D facilities to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) is supported by a network of 42 technology transfer facilities, which provide technology advice, technology relaying and support services for newly - launched technology-oriented companies.
