Science meets regions

Science meets Regions will take place on the 29 November 2017 in the European Committee of the Regions (CoR). It will bring together representatives of EU regional authorities and scientists to exchange views on evidence-informed decision-making process at local and regional level. Decision-makers and politicians from respective regional authorities and experts from EU umbrella scientific organisations, as well as other relevant stakeholders, will participate in this conference. Prior to the event in the European Committee of the Regions, several national and regional events will take place in Saxony (DE), Gabrovo (BG), Slovenia, Bratislava (SK) and Murcia (ES). The outcomes of these locally-based discussions will feed into a high-level panel debate during the Science meets Parliaments 2017, which will be held on the previous day – on 28 November 2017 – at the European Parliament in Brussels. On the morning of 29 November, a Science meets Regions conference about Maximising the Impact of Science for Regions and Cities in Current and Future EU Policies will take place at the CoR premises. Its main focus will be topics such as the mid-term review of Horizon 2020 and the next R&I framework programme, funding synergies and the future MFF, smart specialisation of European regions and cities and the role of scientific experts and universities in this.
