Water Technology & Circular Economy

The Northern Netherlands, ERRIN and Wetsus are organizing a conference on Water Technology & Circular Economy. Which will address questions like: Can waste water be a source of bio-based and bio-degradable plastics? Can used toilet paper be turned into a resource to feed new value chains? How are The Everglades using an innovation prize of 10 million dollars to solve their algae blooms? DG ENV will provide an overview on latest developments in the water sector, including the recently tabled proposal on Drinking Water, the ongoing EC activities in the area of Water Reuse and a state of play on the ongoing Fitness Check on Water legislation. DG RTD will present the next framework programme Horizon Europe and recent developments in research and innovation policy. The conference will also unveil several innovation missions which could support the circular economy. EIT will show how KICs are supporting the circular economy and show which KICs are foreseen for the next wave, among which KIC Water, Marine and Maritime. Vanguard Initiative will highlight how new growth is supported through smart specialisation.  The Circular Economy project SCREEN will give an update on the cooperation between 17 EU regions to bring about a more Resource Efficient Europe. The conference will also unveil how you build an effective innovation ecosystem. Enabling Critical Mass is a key ingredient and forms the basis of 3rd Call Interreg Europe project iWATERMAP.
