The RIS3 strategy of the city falls within the scope of the RIS3 for the south of the Netherlands. 's-Hertogenbosch focuses on the economic and social added value of innovations and sees a major role for SMEs. The city sees data as a strong motor for the economy and therefore stimulates the application of data, digitization and AI in business and society. For example, 's-Hertogenbosch houses the Platform Driven by Data aimed at SMEs and the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS), which is also an EU Digital Innovation Hub. This makes the city home to an ICT and data ecosystem. The next 7 years, we will primarily focus on 3 ambitions. Firstly, we wish to realise an innovation district in the Spoorzone, which is the area around the main train station and the city centre, This area is turning into a unique meeting place, where synergy emerges between innovative companies employment opportunities, talent and knowledge. Secondly, we will invest in digital skills, talent development. And thirdly, our focus is on how to utilise new technologies, ICT and data to find solutions for current and future social and societal challenges, such as sustainability, health, mobility and culture.
