The Value of Social Science & Humanities in Europe

The Slovenian Business & Research Association cordially invites you to The Value of Social Science & Humanities in Europe  on Thursday, 6 December 2018 at 10:00 at the premises of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia to the EU (Rue du Commerce 44, Brussels). The main objective of the conference is to demonstrate the importance of Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH) research for competitiveness of Europe and well-being of its citizens, their contribution in solving main societal challenges and the added value of multidisciplinary research. The long term objective seeks to ensure that SSH receive the proper recognition in academia and society. Too often governments, European policymakers and research community refer approvingly to the undoubted contributions made by natural sciences, engineering and technology to wealth generation, economic prosperity, knowledge transfer, innovation, and the development of new businesses, products & services, while failing to acknowledge the equally important contributions made by SSH. Relevant speakers will include, Dr. Borut Telban (Research Advisor, Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Art), Dr. Aleš Popovič (Vice-Dean for Research and Doctoral Studies at Faculty of Economics – University of Ljubljana), Gabi Lombardo (Director, European Alliances for Social Sciences and Humanities), Dr. Bregt Saenen (Policy and Project Officer, European University Association), Krzysztof Kania (DG RTD, European Commission) among others. The Slovenian Business & Research Association is still working to finalize the programme for the conference. If you would like to view the preliminary draft of the programme, click here.
