From Grape to Glass: How can international research secure a sustainable future for viticulture?
The Hessian Minister for Federal and European Affairs, International Affairs and less Bureaucracy Manfred Pentz and the Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine cordially invite you to the event: 'From Grape to Glass: How can international research secure a sustainable future for viticulture?' on 10 June 2025 at 19:00 at the Representation of the State of Hesse and at the Representation of the Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine to the European Union.
Summary
The global wine industry is facing unprecedented challenges amid a rapidly changing climate. Shifting terroirs and agricultural landscapes, environmental protection, water scarcity, sustainability needs, evolving health and consumption trends, changing consumer preferences, and geopolitical tensions are all reshaping traditional trade and regulatory environments.
This podium discussion will explore how scientific research and its adoption are essential to ensuring the sustainability and long-term viability of the wine sector worldwide.
Join leading experts from across the globe, including representatives from the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences (University of Bordeaux and INRAE, France), the University of Geisenheim (Germany), the University of Adelaide (Australia) and the Australian Wine Research Institute, as they share valuable insights and engage in dialogue on science-based solutions for the wine industry.
The discussion will be followed by a wine tasting, featuring innovative wines made from alternative grape varieties, disease-resistant cultivars and de-alcoholised options from France, Germany and Australia.
