ERRIN, European Regions Research and Innovation Network, is a Brussels-based platform that gathers more than 120 regional organisations from 22 countries. ERRIN, through its bottom up approach, facilitates regional collaboration, project development, and knowledge exchange to the benefit of all its members and partner organisations, with a view to building a competitive Europe which supports smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth in all regions. User registration – Some areas of this website may require you to have an account to have access to a particular area of the website or to obtain certain services. Our registration process involves providing us with your name, surname, organisation and email address.

Webforms – The information we ask you to provide us with when registering for events on ERRIN website, when publishing a partner search, or trying to contact us may include your name, surname, organisation, position, email address, nationality, date of birth, ID number and, in some cases, your message to us.

Newsletters – if you hold an account, you can sign up to receive daily, weekly, or monthly news updates from ERRIN. This is entirely optional, and you can unsubscribe at any time. In your account you can also specify the Working Groups that interest you to receive more tailored updates. This is also optional and can be edited at any time.

When you visit our website, we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns (i.e. number of visitors to the various parts of the site, IP). This information is only processed in an aggregate way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

Personal information may be collected in the following instances and used for the following purposes:

- Keep you updated about ERRIN services and activities;

- Inform you about other services we feel may interest you on the basis of the preferences expressed in your account;

- Contact you about the network, not only in response to a specific enquiry via email and / or telephone;

- Send you tailored emails and newsletters;

- Notify you about working group meetings, events, reports, working documents.

 

Please notice that ERRIN newsletters are distributed by the online service MailChimp and therefore we will provide them with your contact details. Please note that MailChimp uses web beacons to gather information about the success of their email campaigns (e.g. when an email was opened, IP address). Please be also aware that that MailChimp use servers in the US, and therefore your data may be transferred outside the EEA. However, all these companies operate under the EU-US and Swiss-US Protection Shields to ensure your rights regarding data protection when the data is transferred to the US. Participants attending ERRIN events, by signing the participant list, agree to make free use of the photographs bearing their image. This material may be used in online communication such as ERRIN social networks, newsletters and website. They also accept that their name, position and institution is included in the participation list and might be provided to other participants, organisers and if needed, third parties, for organisational reasons. 

The information you provide to us will be held on our computers and/or in hard copy form.

We use physical and technological security measures to protect your information from access by unauthorised persons and against unlawful processing and damage.  Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure and therefore we cannot guarantee the security of any data disclosed online.

Clarification and update of ERRIN's image usage guidelines - August 2020

When not using our own images, ERRIN uses images from sources where there is royalty-free right to use and modify. We will always try to give attribution to photographers where possible, even when it is not required.

Images taken from the European Insitutions are used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International standard adopted under the European Commission in 2019, although re-use has been permitted since 2006.  

Images taken from institutional or external events will display attribution and, where possible, this will be displayed on the image itself. When uploading images to the website we hope Members will also follow these guidelines. 

Collection and Use of Personal Information: The Project Development Tool collects personal information through 'Expression of Interest' and 'Get in Touch' forms. This information may be provided directly by the user or pulled from user accounts. By submitting these forms, users either confirm their consent to share their personal data or affirm that they have obtained consent from individuals whose data they are sharing. This process is integral to ensuring the privacy and security of all parties involved.

Data Management: All personal data collected via the Project Development Tool is managed in accordance with our Data Management Policy. It is important to note that while email addresses are not shared within the tool, it does enable users to contact each other through an online form. Users have the option to opt-out of being contacted by other interested ERRIN members by deselecting the option "I would like to be contacted by other interested ERRIN members." This ensures that communication preferences are respected.

Data Security and Privacy: We are committed to the security of user data. All contact made through the ERRIN website via the Project Development Tool is stored securely within the EU. Although contact data is stored, it is not reviewed by ERRIN, maintaining a level of user privacy.
