The City Hall of Iaşi intends to submit a project to the European Remembrance category - 2018, Europe for citizens.
Title of the Project: EUROPEAN DIPLOMACY AT THE END OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR
Period: October 2018 - December 2019
Beginning with 1916, the city of Iasi became the Romanian capital of war in the context in which Bucharest was occupied.
In this context, the leadership of Romania (the Royal House, the Government, the Parliament, etc.) as well as the representatives of the diplomatic missions, have fled giving the city of Iaşi an international dimension. The refugee diplomatic corps in Iaşi included representatives such as the Count of Saint-Aulaire, the French ambassador, General Henri Mathias Berthelot- France, Carlo Fascioti, the representative of Italy, Ypersele de Strihon - the Belgian consul, etc. PSYCHAS - Greek Plenipotentiary Minister Brisson of Switzerland in Romania, US ambassador to Romania, etc.
Diplomatic missions were accompanied by Military Missions and Red Cross Missions that had an active role in World War I.
European diplomats present in Iaşi have had remarkable careers in the field of diplomacy during the First World War, but also after its completion.
Events organized within the Project
1. The International Conference European Diplomacy and the Paris Peace Conference. Formation of national states.
Participants: representatives of partner cities, students, history teachers
2. Documentary film Diplomatic missions in the city of Iaşi, the Romanian capital of war
The film will be broadcast in all partner cities.
3 The Diplomatic Missions Album in Romania
1000 copies - will be provided to partners and sent to all Embassies of European states in Romania
4. The itinerant exhibition European Diplomacy and Peace Conference in Paris
It will be exhibited in the city of Iasi and in the partner cities.
5. Tourist Map Diplomatic Missions in Romania: a digital map and 10 maps in Iasi.
Highlighting the historic monument houses in Iasi where the representatives of the missions of the European states present in Iasi lived.
